Ovulation test kits offer a highly reliable method (98% accurate) for determining when you are about to ovulate or have already ovulated. These products work by measuring the LH in either your urine or your saliva.

Although highly reliable in determining when your LH surge has occurred, this type of fertility testing provides the necessary information a bit late in the process for some women; you have only one to two days to act on the information before your fertile period is over. These kits also cannot verify whether an egg was actually released (whether ovulation actually occurred) in response to the LH surge. And these kits can become expensive over time if used for several months.
Ovulation test kits are readily available without a prescription at your local pharmacy or drug store, and will cost between $15 and $30 per month of use.

Ovulation test kits come in two forms: those that measure LH in your urine and those that measure LH in your saliva. When measuring LH in your urine, you will have daily test kits that you hold in your urine stream each morning. The stick will turn color or show changes to indicate the presence of high levels of LH. For the saliva testing method, you will have a small microscope and a glass lens. The saliva is placed on the lens each morning, and you look at the glass lens through the microscope to identify the unique LH surge pattern provided with the test kit.
