Over the centuries, people have wanted an accurate baby gender predictor and have observed the various pregnancies and births within their communities to derive certain patterns in the sex of the children born. These methods are now contradicted by scientific evidence and are not considered to offer any degree of accuracy as a baby gender predictor. But they are still fun to try in regards to your own pregnancy. Here are some common and enduring myths and old wives' tales:

Mother's Age at Conception: The story goes that, as a mother ages, her chances for conceiving a boy will increase. Where the Child is Carried: This very well known myth provides that an unborn baby who is carried low and pushes outward from the mother's body will be a boy, while a baby that is carried high and is wrapped around the mother's body will be a girl. Mother's Dreams: In this tale, it is believed that the mother will have the opposite of whatever sex she dreams about. If her dreams are about boys, she will have a girl, and vice versa. Mother's Sleep Position: Can the unborn baby affect the mother's sleep? It is said that when a mother-to-be sleeps on her right side, she will have a girl; if she sleeps on her left side, she will have a boy.
The Gold Prediction: Using a gold necklace, dangle the necklace over the palm of the expectant mother's hand and wait. If the necklace begins moving in a back-and-forth motion, the baby will be a boy. If it moves in a circle, the baby will be a girl.
